Passwords:
- You are required to assist in securing our data by ensuring your password is changed regularly and meets certain criteria.
- Passwords should be easy to remember but hard to guess. Avoid patterns (ie “qwerty”) these are easily guessed. Consider a passphrase like “Saturdays_are_Gr8”
- AoB systems require your password to contain alphabetical and numeric characters at a minimum. For best security consider special characters like ;’!@#$%^^&*()
- Length: a minimum of 14 characters are required.
Instructions:
In the days before your password needs changing your system will display a message like this…

DO NOT IGNORE this message. If you do not change your password before it expires you will be unable to login and require assistance from Technology Solutions.
Before you begin:
-
Ensure your laptop is connected to an AoB network / Wi-Fi.
- If you are working remotely, ensure you are connected to VPN.
To change your password on a computer / laptop, ensure the above pre-requisites are complete and:
- Close all open files
- Press the CTRL + ALT + DEL keys together.
-
Select CHANGE PASSWORD
- Enter your current password (old password)
- Enter a NEW PASSWORD / PASSPHRASE (you cant use a previous password)
- Confirm the NEW PASSWORD / PASSPHRASE and press ENTER

If your password change was NOT accepted, you will need to review the previous steps and try again.
If your password was successfully change, you will receive a message similar to this.

After a successful password change, LOGOUT of your computer / laptop and log in again. Open your normal applications. When prompted for a password, enter your NEW PASSWORD / PASSPHRASE.
Another method:
If you use RDS (https://remotewebapps.catholic.net.au/rdweb/webclient/) you can use the CHANGE PASSWORD icon from the Remote Desktop.
If this option is selected, after changing the password the user should still logout and back in to all devices.

Mobile Devices:
If you have AoB mobile device (tablet or phone) with email installed, you will need to update the application manually.
- Open SETTINGS

- Select PASSWORDS
- Click MAIL
- Select EXCHANGE
- Enter new password (for each mailbox you have)
Note, different devices may vary slightly in the above steps.
You may be prompted periodically for your new password. This is normal.
Remember:
It is against policy to share your password with other staff. If your colleagues need access to your data servicedesk@bne.catholic.net.au can facilitate this securely.
